CHILD SAFETY

Let’s start with the most important topic - the safety of your child!

Our children are not only special, but also different. And we always think that we will be around to explain their unusual behaviors to others, and to help them with their communication and social skills when needed. But what will happen if we are not there for them?

What if they are hurt, or lost, or questioned by the police? Will they be able to communicate well with others? Will they withdraw and shut down? Will they become violent and aggressive?

I know that these are not pleasant things to think about and not a good way to start a newsletter! But they are important! So, we need to talk about them!

Personally, I think that each of our children with any form of autism spectrum disorder should have a medical alert bracelet and/or medical alert charm.

These alerts will inform medical personnel or law enforcement officers or any other personnel that your child has autism so that they can appropriately help your child.

The bracelet can be worn on the wrist, of course! But what do you do with the charm? You put it on their shoe or shoe laces!

I suggest one charm for each pair of shoes so that you do not need to change the charm each time they change shoes.

AUTISM AWARENESS

The next topic is much more fun - autism awareness!

We need to help friends and family understand our children. And we need to help our communities be more aware about autism.

We can promote autism awareness most effectively with autism awareness products.

I have an autism awareness car magnet on the back of my van. I just love it since it is so colorful and so different!

You can also use autism jewelry, autism bracelets, autism ribbons, autism pins, and autism T-shirts. And you can even create your own autism awareness products.

HOMESCHOOL TRANSCRIPTS

Have you ever thought about homeschooling your child with autism? Perhaps you already homeschool your child!

I have found that homeschooling is the best thing that I have ever done for my children on the autism spectrum and my neurotypical daughter. Really!!

Many people start homeschooling in the elementary years. But then they send their child to government school when they reach high school level.

One of the main reasons for this exodus to government schools is because the parent is rather intimidated by the thought of a homeschool transcript for their high school student.

But it is really not scary! It is actually rather easy!!

Well, there is no way for me to totally predict the best autism therapy for your child.
