Stepping Stones, Issue #008--Healthy Chocolate, Coconut Oil, Weighted Item Sale
October 19, 2006
Greetings!

I would like to tell you about a super sale, a free book, and a new product in this newsletter! I have also included a research study link. Then, I would like to share a meaningful Bible verse.

Since we all love sales, let’s start with the sale!

Sensory Critters is offering a fantastic sale through November 5, 2006 on their weighted products. These products are extremely beneficial for individuals with sensory integration dysfunction and autism due to their grounding effect. Several products are available including Weighted Blanket and Weighted Lap Pad and Weighted Neck Wrap and Weighted Vest . Just click on any of the pictures at the end of these pages and then go to the home page to find out more about the sale.

You may have heard that coconut oil is bad for you since it is a saturated fat. However, nothing can be further from the truth! Coconut oil is wonderful for you!

Coconut oil has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-tumor properties. This oil also contains medium chain triglycerides which go straight to the liver for energy. This latter fact makes coconut terrific for weight loss. I have lost 10 pounds so far in just 6 weeks just be using coconut oil with my cooking. Two tablespoons of coconut oil are recommended daily for optimal health.

I obtain my virgin coconut oil from Tropical Traditions since it is high quality but low price. This company is now offering a free book called “Virgin Coconut Oil: How it has changed people’s lives and how it can change yours”. This book contains solid research about the benefits of coconut oil as well as 75 recipes about cooking with coconut oil.

To get your free book you just need to order something at Tropical Traditions. Of course, I recommend the Virgin Coconut Oil, but they have tons of other products as well. When you get to the place where you are asked “How did you hear about us”, just choose “Referred by a friend” in the drop down box. Then, enter 477763 in the area that says “Referred by (User ID)”. They will then send you your free book with your purchase.

Now, let’s talk about healthy chocolate. Yes, you read it correctly! There really is such a thing as healthy chocolate!!

The chocolate that I am talking about is Sweet Life dark chocolate sweetened with xylitol along with other healthy ingredients. The dark chocolate is creamy and smooth, and actually tastes more like milk chocolate. Xylitol is a natural sweetener that does not affect blood sugar (great for diabetics!) and actually helps to prevent cavities.

The Cardio Bar is infused with raspberries, co-enzyme Q-10, vitamin E, vitamin B12 and vitamin C. The Calcium Crunch Bar provides 35% of the daily value of calcium and extra magnesium and phosphorus along with toasted flax seeds. These healthy chocolate bars make wonderful gifts for everyone!

Now it is time for an update on autism research! This article indicates that autism is a disease of body as well as the brain.

I would like to leave you with the following verse from Luke 14:33. “In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.”

This verse helps me to realize that we really do need to be willing to give up all if we are to follow Jesus completely. Not only are we to be willing to give up material possessions, but we are also to be willing to give up our own expectations including what WE want for our children.

Instead, we need to help our children realize the potential that God wants for them. We sometimes spend so much time on therapies and treatments, but how much time do we spend teaching our children about the Word of God? I know that I can do better. How about you?

I hope that you found all of this information useful.

Feel free to pass this newsletter along to others in its entirety so that it can help others, too.

Also, make sure to check out Autism in the Christian Home website and Autism Blog.

Take care,

Valerie L. Richey, MD, ND
