Well, a Christian homeschool group is an important part of homeschooling!
You do not want to join just any group.
You want to join a group that will meet your needs as well as the needs of your children.
Perhaps we can help you!
We are CHEC-Mount Orab and we are affiliated with the Christian Home Educators of Cincinnati.
You may have already guessed that we are a non-denominational Christian group of individuals who believe in homeschooling our children.
By the way, please note that we do not consider any form of public school at home (K-12, Ohio Virtual Learning Academy, Ohio Virtual Academy) to be homeschooling. Instead, we believe that homeschooling should be parent-directed.
We provide support for Christian homeschooling parents as well as field trips for homeschooling students ages 6-18. We often accommodate younger children of group members if possible.
The parent meetings occur periodically as needed. We usually have a newbie meeting. We have also offered other special topics such as homeschooling high school and earning college credit while homeschooling.
Field trips are scheduled throughout the year at various places and times. Most events are within 30 minutes from Mount Orab. Please be aware that we start all field trips promptly at the scheduled time!
Previous events have included the following:
- Horse farm
- Apple orchard and apple cider processing
- Goat farm
- Bowling
- Pottery class
- Animal shelter
- Recycling center
- Sheep farm
- Heritage day
- Veterinarian
- Bonfire with paddle boating
- Strawberry picking
- Animal rescue
- Water chemistry
We usually schedule at least one field trip per month. Most field trips are free, but some do involve a nominal fee.
I should note that all field trips are entirely voluntary. There are never any mandatory events! After all, we believe in homeschooling where you decide what is best for your child!
We also believe in service opportunities! We have sang songs for the residents of a nursing home, we planted flowers at a church, and we cleaned up an area of our community. We are always looking for meaningful service projects!
We even have kids with disabilities in our group including high functioning autism (Asperger’s Syndrome and PDD-NOS), ADHD, learning disabilities, sensory integration, and others. We will try to accommodate disabilities as much as possible.
I would also like to mention that part of my personal ministry is helping others to learn more about homeschooling and to start homeschooling. So, let me know if you need assistance!
Now, you probably want to know how you can become a member of our Christian homeschool group!
All you need to do would be to submit our application, our Christian statement of faith, and $5 annual dues to me. You will need to have sent in your Home Education Notification Form, too.
I will review your paperwork and then present you with your membership card!
Then, you are a member of our CHEC-Mount Orab Christian homeschool group and are entitled to come to our meetings and field trips!
You are also entitled to participate in the CHEC-Citywide e-group.
Simple!
