A Homeschool Computer Course

We live in a technologic world.
And computers are everywhere.
We communicate with email. We obtain information on the internet. We use computers in our jobs for data entry, word processing, data analysis, computer assisted design, computer programming and much more.
We will use computers even more in the future.
But, we may not like computers. We may even want computers to go away. However, computers are here to stay whether we like them or not.
So, computer training definitely needs to be part of the education for your children.

In Book 1, you will learn about a mixture of topics at the beginner level: word processing, computer programming, spreadsheets, internet, and web design with HTML. My kids really like programming the skyscraper complete with colorful background and creative animation!
Then, in Book 2, you will learn even more about computer programming and web design at a more advanced level. My son can not wait to create his very own computer games!
The authors wrote this computer curriculum so that your student can proceed independently with minimal guidance from you. Every step is explained exceptionally well. Your children are encouraged to learn from hands-on guided experimentation which is really a Charlotte Mason approach to homeschooling. No previous computer knowledge is necessary.
This homeschool computer course uses the Logo computer programming language with Micro Worlds 2.0. This language is based on LISP and was developed just for children using a turtle to better visualize the commands. Your children give directions to the turtle, observe the actions of the turtle, and then refine the directions as needed.
The computer language used is actually not as important as the logic skills that are developed. After your child learns the Logo computer language, they can pick up other languages much more easily. The logic used in computer programming is part of classical education.
The end of Book 2 will guide you in choosing the next steps in your computer education particularly with C, C++ and Java.
