Is This Spiritual Warfare?
Is My Child Possessed?

Autism is a medical disorder rather than spiritual warfare.

Your child may not fit in like the other kids.

His communication abilities and social skills are so different from his peers.

She certainly sticks out from the crowd.

Others may call your child's behaviors "weird and freaky” as well. Your child may even behave angelic one moment, but then seem demonic the next moment. These meltdowns can occur rapidly and for no apparent reason.

All of these autism symptoms may cause you to wonder if your child is possessed, and if you are dealing with spiritual warfare.

If so, you are not alone. I have felt similarly. And I know that other parents have related concerns about their child with autism.

What makes matters worse is that the extended family, friends, and even the church reinforce this idea.

These individuals question you about your sins just like Job’s friends questioned him about his sins. They may be well-meaning, but their comments still hurt. However, Job did not do anything to deserve his misfortunes (except live a Godly life), and, most likely, neither have you.

Now, I do believe that there is an abundance of spiritual issues in our world. And it is possible that some individuals with autism and their families are involved in this battle.

I recommend “Strongman’s His Name… What’s His Game?” by Drs. Jerry and Carol Robeson if you would like to explore this topic further.

However, it is much more likely that autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder.

Your child does not feel good and is easily frustrated due underlying causes of autism. He is just responding to his environment in the only way he that he knows how.

However, you can help your own child in your own Christian home. Many ideas are presented throughout this website.

I also encourage you to investigate other questions and answers about the Christian perspective of autism.
