A Vitamin B6 Supplement
Is Especially Beneficial
For Depression, Anxiety, and Autism

A magnesium supplement should be taken simultaneously with a vitamin B6 supplement (pyridoxine).

Vitamin B6 is essential for many physical and mental processes throughout your body.

For example, vitamin B6 activates at least 60 enzymes for various reactions. This vitamin is also used in the production of red blood cells, immune cells, nucleic acids (RNA and DNA), and neurotransmitters such as serotonin.

Vitamin B6 especially helps your hematological, immune, dermatological and nervous systems. It also helps many other areas of your body as well.

Common symptoms of vitamin B6 include numbness and tingling, weakness, cracks around mouth, impaired wound healing, hair loss, skin disorders, acne, gum inflammation, irritability, anxiety, depression, fatigue, dizziness, memory loss, learning problems, arthritis, and hypoglycemia.

You need more vitamin B6 during pregnancy and lactation, radiation exposure, and heart failure.

Birth control pills, hormone replacement therapy, and antidepressants also deplete vitamin B6 levels leading to osteoporosis. Diuretics inhibit absorption of vitamin B6.

Good sources of pyridoxine are whole grains, meats, carrots, peas, and spinach.

A vitamin B6 supplement has been shown to improve many conditions.

For example, vitamin B6 can stimulate the immune system for individuals with AIDS and cancer.

Vitamin B6 is extremely helpful for anxiety and depression.

It has been used for nausea and vomiting during pregnancy and for symptoms of premenstrual syndrome.

Vitamin B6 has been shown to reduce arterial plaque leading to coronary artery disease.

In addition, carpal tunnel syndrome, diabetic neuropathy and seizure disorder can be improved with vitamin B6 supplementation.

Vitamin B6 can be used to treat peripheral neuropathy. Peripheral neuropathy refers to numbness and tingling in your arms/hands and legs/feet. However, too much vitamin b6 can also cause peripheral neuropathy. If this condition occurs, just reduce the amount of vitamin B6 until the symptoms resolve.

A vitamin B6 supplement with a magnesium supplement has been shown to be beneficial with autism in over 18 studies. This combination also prevents recurrent calcium oxalate kidney stones, and dissolves calcium phosphate kidney stones, and reduces symptoms of premenstrual syndrome.

Irritability, bed-wetting, and sound sensitivity may occur soon after starting these supplements. Just increase the amount of magnesium and these symptoms should resolve.

However, the effective dose of a vitamin B6 supplement for children with autism is 300-500 mg per day. About 200-300 mg per day of magnesium should be taken simultaneously.

A vitamin B complex is also a great idea to avoid induced deficiencies of the other B vitamins which can occur when taking higher amounts of vitamin B6.

Normally, adults should take about 50 of vitamin B6 per day.
